Hello,
I am a blues guitarist currently a student at Anglia Ruskin University studying Music (BA Hons). I have progressed to be a university student after a college education at a sixth form where i studied A levels, of which two were music courses.
I have an A level in Music and an A level in Music Technology. These qualifications have provided me with a great understanding of music performance and analysis of western classical music. I have gained experience in music composition and used notation software and a digital audio workspace to a high standard. These encouraged many hours of studio recording and the learning of all kinds of method and processes related to the topic.
I enjoy guitar maintenance and tech involving myself in tools and activities that enable me to develop on my understanding. I have learnt about how sound engineering, equipment and recording processes have evolved through previous qualifications and this has allowed me to have a more in-depth understanding of how my equipment works and the history behind it.
I enjoy buying new amps, pedals and related gear to exploit new tones and processes that can lead me to discover new music and artists, therefore building on my repertoire, technique and understanding on my instrument. I have been playing guitar for 12 years, during the time i have been awarded Rockschool's electric guitar grades debut-six, and i am currently studying grade eight.
I have had great fun practising and performing with bands that have formed through education and this enjoyment stuck acting as encouragement for me to be the guitarist in a band with my friends who are also music students. The band was a function band where we were responsible for managing our rehearsal and gigs. I have also had the opportunity to perform at a wedding which was a great experience.
I have performed at live events and have been part of an arts award, where we put on a concert gaining understanding of the development and challenges that planning a music event holds. As well as being the guitarist in the warm-up act, i was lighting engineer which enabled me to have a refreshed view of theatre from a different position and gain understanding of the challenges that practical and important tasks, vital to a music event, hold.
I use instagram to share my love of music, posting videos and pictures of guitar, and engaging with other musicians. Social media is such a powerful tool to grow and by using instagram i am learning the new trends and ways of advertising, which is so important in the creative industry. Please enjoy my pictures and videos below, most of which are from my instagram account.
