Rhys Chambers

I am a Musical Director and educator based in the North East of England, with extensive experience working across amateur, youth and educational Musical Theatre. I regularly work as a Musical Director and pit musician on productions across the region, performing on piano, bass guitar, drums, and selected brass and woodwind instruments. My practice is rooted in rehearsal leadership, ensemble coaching and maintaining professional standards within non-professional contexts.I am Programme Lead for Musical Theatre at Sunderland College and am currently studying for a PhD, researching Musical Direction in the UK, with a particular focus on the challenges and working practices of Musical Directors in amateur Musical Theatre. My work brings together professional practice, teaching and research.
