I am an 18 year old university student currently in my 1st year of BA Esports at the University of Chichester, I am open to any jobs within the creative industry. One area where I have a particular interest is the gaming sector, I have extensive experience of researching a majority of prominent esports, along with competing at semi-pro level in a niche firld of Call of Duty.
Originally, the first esport I ever engaged in was FIFA in around 2016, I never did anything myself competitively but the game was my introduction to watching competitive events and seeing how they are contested and casted.
Moving on from this, I then, like many, took up Fortnite. This game was my first experience of attempting to play a game competitively. I never had any particular noteworthy success on the game in a competitive sense, despite my efforts, however it gave me an understanding of the mechanics of a shooter, which was crucial in my evolution as a player in general. In this period, I dabbled with other games like PUBG and Apex, but never consistently.
After this, I started playing Call of Duty, which is where I believe I gained the most valuable experience. I began making highlight videos, particularly sniping ones, which would help to get me recognition. As I became a more established figure in the community, I was given more opportunities to collaborate with others in the community. This included team or duo videos, or in some cases even helping to co-lead groups with collaborators, which allowed me to put forward my own ideas and turn them into successful projects, while managing a group of people. It was here where I gained my first, and to this only high level competitive experience. Rather than the traditional CDL competitive format, these tournaments were an entirely different format, involving teams being set a deadline to edit their highlights from a set time period into a video (these videos would then be judged, and winning teams would be placed in a bracket). These tournaments often had semi-pro level prize pools, and I competed in them for about 1-2 years, providing significant contributions to the teams I represented.
This experience inspired me to delve more into the world of Esports, and i now watch a majority of significant Esports on a somewhat regular basis, along with extensive research into certain areas. This has given me a vast understanding of the sector.
Another field where I have experience is Film. For a project I did in college, I produced a short film, which involved going through each stage of pre-production, production and post-production. This film was then selected and screened at the Walthamstow International Film Festival, which I believe shows the quality of the production and concept.
