Hello!

My name is Bethany Kubiszyn, I am a college student studying Level 3 Fashion and clothing. I chose this course due to my love of historical fashion and the desire to recreate or modernise some of my favourite aspects of fashion through history; when I signed up for this course I had this at the front of my mind ,to be honest though, I have learnt and began to love a lot more than that with the sketchbook work being some of my favourite so far because it is a creative outlet where I am able to really show where my ideas have come from. While I am new to completing the entire creative process start to finish I have always been designing clothing, since I was young I used to make paper clothes for dolls, design wedding dresses whenever I found out a celebrity I liked was getting married and redesigning tour outfits for shows I couldn't attend. I think it all started when I was 6 I created a bra for a breast cancer competition that had one first place due to its colour and design features. Along with designing I have also got a long  history of utilising Adobe and Affinity for various projects and Python for coding.

My personal interests really drive my ideas to reality; as previously stated my vast knowledge of history and its fashion helps to aid me in my studies, for example, in my design package at the end of unit one I had done pages that were heavily inspired by my favourite eras of fashion including the Rocco Era, Victorian Era and the 1950s where aspects of those time periods clothing such as sleeves, embroidery detailing and the silhouette all were chosen very carefully to reflect that. My other deep interest in buildings and mythology deriving from religion and being non religious myself, I have a deep appreciation for the way other people live with belief, I use a lot of this in my every day work creating a shirt inspired by Greek collars and using grape vines that symbolise health and the Dionysus who was the Greek god of wine and festival to using Egyptian's beliefs in fruits to really tell a story through my designs.
