Channels and Networks

Hello, my name is Abi Swift, an independent musician and freelance drummer from Bradford! I have been playing the drum kit for over 12 years. I enjoy listening to many genres of music, including indie, funk, contemporary jazz, post-punk, IDM, metal and more. This influences me to create a range of genres within my own production and songwriting sessions. I have different inspirations for different genres, however, some of my main inspirations are Hiatus Kaiyote, IDLES, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C and Anderson. Paak.
I have experience in live performance, drumming in multiple bands based in West Yorkshire. I have performed at a range of festivals and events, such as Deershed Festival, Woodfest, Baildon Carnival, Keighley Arts and Film Festival and many other venues/pubs around West Yorkshire. Because of this, I have experience in performing in small corners in pubs and on outdoor stages to large crowds.
I have recorded music in professional music studios such as Woolpack Studios in Otley and often use the facilities at the University of Huddersfield to record music. I produce music in my spare time, creating a range of genres like lofi, jungle and IDM. I am the most proficient in Ableton, however sometimes use other DAWs like Logic Pro, Pro Tools and Musescore.
As well as drums, I also play electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, bass, backing vocals and percussion and have performed and recorded with many of these too. I started up with guitar and ukulele around four years ago. I sing backing vocals for my bands and have played percussion such as Cajon and Djembe in many past performances.
Aside from music, I enjoy creating visual media. I often photograph live music and nature, create graphics/posters/social media content using Photoshop, Lightroom and Canva, and have edited music showcase videos using Premiere Pro during my time at Bradford College.
