Fashion and Clothing Student

Channels and Networks
Hello, my name is Abbie and I am currently a first year level 3 fashion student at Northampton College. I decided to do this course because I have a interest in working in the fashion industry. At GCSE I did textiles and that is where my interest of fashion really started to grow.
During the course so far I have learnt how to use the industrial machines and irons that are used in the real world of fashion and has given me an incite of what it would be like to work in the industry. Furthermore I have also learnt how to do different printing techniques such as screen printing. This will help me in the future for when I would like to create my own prints. I have also learnt how to create a design package and how to draw different types of models and proportions of the body.
Within fashion, the styles that I like the most are fitted clothing, puffed sleeves and flared/ wide leg trousers. I enjoy the printing more than the drawing as I think that it is one of my strengths. However, I love to use the sewing machine to add details to garments and I like hand stitching on beads to finish off garments. Furthermore I have an interest in costume design.
The project I am working on currently is The Graphic Shirt Project. By the end the project I will have designed and made a graphic shirt taking inspiration from one or two of the key themes: Gestural, Doodle, Organic and Architectural.
