Piper McLaughlin

Piper McLaughlin has always been interested in the performing arts industry. She has been performing since she was nine at NPA (Notts Performing Arts) in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Here she was in two performances as Shoulders in Bugsy Malone and Rubin in Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat. At secondary school she chose Drama for her GCSE and got a grade 5 and secured her wanting to study acting at college level. Piper then joined Leeds City College at 17 and joined the Acting Level 3 Btec course.

Throughout Piper's time at Leeds City College she has performed monologues, worked within an ensemble and played the lead in a short film.

At Piper's first year at college, in December, she was performing in Fraser and Metamorphosis. In fraser she played small roles with few speaking lines. In Metamorphosis she played the role of Mr Samsa alongside five others, here she worked in an ensemble and had a scene at the end with three others in to end the show. Also in the first year Piper took part in a small group to create a short divised performance. Here her group chose the stimulus of "A Little Boogie Woogie in the Back of my Mind" by Gary Glitter. Here the group made a short story of Gary Glitter grooming young girls and his sentence at the end.

In Piper's second year at Leeds City college she did three different monologues. The first was a contemporary monologue from Prima Facie, the second was a classical monologue taken from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the third was a devised monologue which was called Pinky Promise. The devised monologue was based on Cancer from a different perspective. Also in the Second year she took part in a short film called "The Pong Wars" and Piper got the lead role of "Alex" who lead her friends into a fight with other peers.

In 2024 Piper auditioned for a scarefest called Screams at Thornton Hall Country Park in Skipton. She achieved the role of The Ram, in the maze called BlackMarket which received top 3 by ScareTrack. This maze was very intense and used the actors to be very intimidating towards audience members. Piper was given more responsibilities like taking audience members out of the maze if they were too scared to continue and she would also train other actors new to the attraction.
