Ben Elton was a pivotal character in London's alternative comedy movement in the 1980's and he became a much loved writer on iconic series such as The Young Ones and Blackadder.
Elton is also a highly successful stand up comedian with a reputation for using his laser guided routines to target the sensitive topics of the day - and always head on.
He has written two hit musicals, We Will Rock You (2002) and Love Never Dies (2010) as well as 15 novels.
